The upgrading of existing conveyor systems, including the procurement of a new ship loader, stacker reclaimer, rail marshaling yard, thor telescopic stacker, control bunker room, including new roads and drainage, enabling the Terminal de Carvão da Matola, Mozambique to increase it’s terminal capacity to 6.0 million tons per annum.

The key driver for the project was to implement a new wagon offloading station, new conveyors, pipe conveyor and railway shunting leg, enabling the Terminal de Carvão da Matola, Mozambique to increase it’s terminal capacity to receive by rail, discharge, stockpile and ship 7.3 million tons of coal and magnetite per annum.

This project was undertaken to meet the client’s requirement that Panamax and Post Panamax sized vessels be loaded at the Terminal de Carvão da Matola, Berth No. 01. This was achieved by upgrading the existing Ship Loader No. 02, along with the refurbishment of Berth No. 01 and the dredging of the berth pocket at Berth No. 01.

The undertaking of a new vehicular parking, constructed through the implementing of specialised engineered earth stabilisation, along with the necessary bulk services, civil and external works as required.
